מצבי לחץ וטראומה הינם שכיחים ביותר לאורך מעגל החיים. סיוע מיטבי לנחשפים למצבים אלו דורש הבנה תיאורטית מעמיקה של תהליכי ההסתגלות, לצד מיומנויות התערבות מורכבות מבוססות-ראיות. סגל בית הספר לעבודה סוציאלית באוניברסיטת תל אביב כולל אנשי מחקר ופרקטיקה מובילים, המפתחים ידע תיאורטי וקליני עדכני הנוגע למניעה וסיוע לנחשפים למצבי לחץ וטראומה מסוגים שונים. לתלמידי התואר הראשון מוצע מגוון קורסים בנושא, ובהם לחץ וטראומה: מבוא לעבודה סוציאלית מיודעת טראומה, ילדים נפגעי התעללות ותהליך עשיית הצדק, ואלימות כלפי נשים במשפחה. במסלול הקליני לטיפול במצבי לחץ וטראומה בלימודי התואר השני נלמדות תאוריות מרכזיות העוסקות בהשלכותיהם המיידיות וארוכות הטווח של מצבי לחץ על הנחשפים והמעגלים המקיפים אותם ובגורמי חוסן ופגיעות לצד פיתוח מיומנויות התערבות מתקדמות.
