פרופ' יעל בנימיני

יעל בנימיני הינה פרופ' מן המניין בבית הספר לעבודה סוציאלית וחוקרת בתחומי הבריאות והזקנה בכלל ובריאות נשים בפרט. פרופ' בנימיני השלימה תואר שני בפסיכולוגיה חברתית באוניברסיטה העברית בירושלים ותואר שלישי בפסיכולוגיה רפואית וחברתית באוניברסיטת Rutgers בניו-ג'רזי, ארה"ב. היא מונתה כחברת כבוד בארגון האירופאי לפסיכולוגיה של הבריאות (EHPS). היא שימשה כמזכירת ה-EHPS וכעורכת משנה בכתב העת Psychology & Health ועורכת אורחת בכתבי העת Health Psychology Review, International Journal of Behavioral Medicine, and Frontiers in Psychiatry. היא פרסמה מעל מאה מאמרים בכתבי עת שפיטים ועוד מעל עשרים פרקים ומאמרים מוזמנים וערכה במשותף את הספר Assessment in Health Psychology. בפרוץ מגפת הקורונה, היא יזמה והובילה את ערוץ "הריון ולידה בימי קורונה" בפרויקטACADEMIA-IL , במסגרתו פותחה ערכת מידע והנחיות לנשים בהריון בתקופת הקורונה, לאנשי מקצוע בתחום הרפואה במיילדות ומיילדות, ולמנהלים וקובעי מדיניות הקשורים לתפקוד דיסציפלינות אלה במהלך מגפה.

פרופ' יעל בנימיני חוקרת כיצד אנשים חושבים על בריאותם. הסקירה שערכה יחד עם פרופ' אלן איידלר בנושא תפיסות כוללות של מצב הבריאות, הפכה למאמר קלאסי בתחום וסיפקה בסיס תיאורטי להבנת התוקף של תפיסות בריאות. סקירה זו הובילה להרחבה דרמטית של המחקר בעולם על תפיסות כוללות של מצב הבריאות והוכרה כאחד המצוטטים ביותר במדעי החברה (מעל 6,000 פעם). פרופ' בנימיני המשיכה לתרום לתחום, בהרחיבה את מחקריה להשפעתן של תפיסות סובייקטיביות של בריאות וחולי על התמודדות עם בעיות בריאותיות ולהשלכות התפיסות ודרכי ההתמודדות על התוצאות הפיזיות והנפשיות. היא התמקדה במחלות כרוניות (כגון כאב, מחלות לב), ובבריאות נשים (אי-פריון, היריון, מנופאוזה). בשנים האחרונות היא מובילה קבוצות מחקר גדולות בתחום ההיריון, לידה והסתגלות לאחר הלידה ופעילה ברשת בינלאומית של חוקרות וחוקרי לידה
