מחקר

ד"ר בל גבריאל-פריד היא מרצה בכירה בבית הספר לעבודה סוציאלית. תחומי המחקר העיקריים שלה כוללים התמכרויות לחומרים ולהתנהגויות עם דגש על התנהגות הימורים. במהלך השנים האחרונות היא חוקרת את נושא ההחלמה בקרב אנשים עם הפרעת הימורים.

ד"ר גבריאל-פריד מיישמת במחקריה מתודולוגיות כמותיות ואיכותניות. מחקריה לאורך השנים התמקדו באופן בו משתקפים מאפייניה של החברה הישראלית בשדה ההימורים בישראל: חקר ייחודו של שיח הקאזינו בחברה הישראלית, הבניית זהות נורמטיבית בקרב נשים עם הפרעת הימורים, עמדות האוכלוסייה הבוגרת בישראל ביחס להימורים, עמדות של עובדים סוציאליים בישראל ביחס להימורים בקרב בני נוער, הימורים בקרב ני נוער בישראל ועוד.

בשנת 2017 היא מנותה לחברת מערכת בכתב העת International Gambling Studies

בשנים 2018-2019 שהתה ד"ר גבריאל-פריד במרכז למצוינות בחקר הימורים במחלקה לפסיכיאטריה באוניברסיטת ייל.

Dr. Belle Gavriel Fried is a senior faculty member at Tel Aviv University. Her research interests include addictions to both substances and behaviors (especially gambling behaviors). She implements both qualitative and quantitative research methods in her work. She has conducted numerous studies exploring the unique characteristics of Israeli society as manifested in the gambling field (e. g., the Israeli casino discourse, normative identity construction of women with a gambling disorder, attitudes of Jewish Israeli adults towards gambling, gambling behaviors of adolescents in Israel etc.). Since 2017, Dr. Gavriel-Fried has served as a member of the international editorial board of the International Gambling Studies journal.

In addition to her studies in the gambling field, she has conducted a several studies on perceptions of the family in Israel, and is currently a co-PI for a study examining Arab students’ success in Israeli universities.

Currently (2018-2019) Dr. Gavriel-Fried is on sabbatical at Yale University, Department of Psychiatry.
